Welcome to The Miracle of the 12 Steps
This site is meant as a meeting place for people who are really working their 12 step program. I have been addicted to many different drugs but since it was alcohol that really kicked my ass there is a bias toward A.A. in my content. Anyone is welcome however. If you have really done step 1 and admitted complete defeat, then using is no longer an option or a problem. Not using by itself is not enough -- it is just the barest beginning of an incredible journey.
The12th step starts: "Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps". Notice that it doesn't say a result but the result. So the only goal of the program is to have a spiritual awakening. And this is impossible if you are still using. It has been said that religion is for people who are afraid of hell and spirituality is for people who have been there. So this site is mainly about spirituality. I use God because it's short and easy to type and besides I can make jokes about the dyslexic insomniac who lay awake all night wondering if there was a Dog. If you don't like the word God, then substitute Higher Power, Buddha, Other People, The Great Om or anything else that makes you happy.
The first word of the first step is 'We'. I would like this to be a 'we' site so please register and contribute to the content here.
